A fačuk is an illegitimate child, a mortal sin for the pregnant woman who wanders the countryside and from whom everyone stays away. Fear grows inside her; the shadow advances, a storm breaks out, a grave is dug, disturbing hands rise to grab the child and take him away. “He is the son of sin,” cry disturbing masks. Finally, a river will overwhelm the villages and their inhabitants, with their obtuse mentality, and life will be able to sprout again on those hills.
Maida Srabović
She was born in Koprivnica, Croatia, in 1986 and studied film and television editing at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. In 2018, she co-founded the animation and post-production studio TETRABOT in Zagreb. Since 2020, she has also been working in animation and illustration. Fačuk (2025) is her debut short film as a director.
