Performer Maria Roveran searches for the sounds and traces of the anguane, the water goddesses of Veneto folklore. Her journey follows an imaginary river that flows between the Dolomites and the Venice Lagoon. But her search is also for something and someone else, as if the anguane were the pretext for a sensorial experience in which sounds and landscapes become tools for connecting with water. Alongside Maria, the film recounts the activities of biologists, speleologists, and environmental activists committed to documenting or protecting aquatic ecosystems increasingly threatened by pollution and land use. As the river flows toward the sea, the anguane's sites appear increasingly vulnerable, and the landscape progressively reveals our predatory and destructive relationship with the environment. Interweaving myth, music, and science, the film is an immersive journey and a reflection on our connection to water.
