In the late 19th century, in a fishing community on the Friulian lagoon, Agata gives birth to a stillborn baby girl. According to Catholic tradition, without baptism the newborn’s soul is destined for Limbo; for this reason, the young mother decides to embark on a journey to a mountain shrine where, it is said, children can come back to life for a single breath. Along the way, she encounters an enigmatic figure who knows those lands well and who becomes, for a time, both her guide and her obstacle. The film follows the journey of a lone woman whose grief, tenacity, and search for a miracle transform her pilgrimage into a test of faith and self-determination. The dialect and borderland speech bring to life a world suspended between reality and legend.
