In Giazza, between the late 1980s and early 1990s, Peter Schreiner portrays the life of this small community where the last traces of the ancient High German language known as Tauc (Cimbrian) have survived. He captures the villagers' daily lives, allowing not only their words but also their long silences and live sounds to speak, using black-and-white images that seem to mourn the disappearance of the ancient language.
