The fight for one’s rights and ideals can take many forms. For the Kichwa tribe of Sarayaku, an indigenous population in the Amazonian forest of Ecuador, it has the form of a circle of sacred fl owers animated by otherworldly, shamanic songs. To combat the latest attempt to attack the green lung of the earth with the cancer of oil wells and protect it from intensive exploitation, this tribe, which depends entirely on the forest, defends its territory with a border made of flowering plants, the “Frontiere de Vie”.
