In a small village at the foot of Mount Ararat, in Turkey, it is morning and a white refl ection enters from the window. It has been snowing. Raja, a nine-year-old girl, gets up, gets dressed, makes her bed, and lights a fire, as her mother taught her to do. She then sets off for school on the snowy path.
