LA NUIT BLANCHE

THE WHITE NIGHT

Audrey Delepoulle / France / 2023 / 4 min / Colour

In the village, breaking news reports a sudden and drastic drop in temperatures. Beth, a brave arborist, spends an exhausting night in the countryside with her colleagues, desperately trying to save the orchards from the destructive frost by creating fire points. As the earth turns white, their hopes seem to fade. La nuit blanche is a precise and poetic work of animation, created by Audrey Delepoulle through drawings on paper as part of her studies at the École Émile-Cohl in Lyon. The director recreates an enveloping atmosphere and renders palpable the tension of this long night of vigilance, which reflects the same real fear that involves us all when we feel threatened by climate change. However, beyond the efforts of the experts, in the disturbing beauty of the glacial winter, perhaps not all is lost.
