IL CONFINE DI BRINA

THE BORDER OF FROST

Gabriele Donati / Italy / 2023 / 58 min / Colour

Through interviews and period photos, the testimonies tell the stories of courageous people who risked their lives to save others during the Second World War. Maria Luisa Crosina is a historical researcher who discovered an extraordinary fact: five members of her family managed to escape the Holocaust by fleeing Trieste thanks to Don Pietro Cortiula, a priest from Friuli, who hid them in Liariis, including them in the local community and concealing their true identities. The documentary also focuses on other stories of courageous rescue actions, such as those of mountaineers Ettore Castiglioni and Adamello Collini, who helped political dissidents and Jews cross mountain borders, and that of Carabinieri Marshal Bruno Pilat, who managed to cover the escape of 218 Jews from Aprica.
