ADE (ON A SUNDAY)
Theja Rio / India / 2024 / 17 min / Colour
Italian premiere
Ade, an eight-year-old boy from a village in Nagaland, India, decides to skip Sunday school with his friend Abu for a day of fun. The two boys go swimming and, driven by curiosity to discover their fathers' vices, they drink rice beer and smoke cigarettes in secret. What begins as simple pranks turns into an experience that makes them confront the complexities of the adult world. Upon returning home, despite having simply imitated their parents' behavior, it is their parents who will scold them. Shot on 16mm film, with a light but incisive tone, the short film explores the passage from childhood to adolescence, self-knowledge, the parent-child relationship, and human frailties.
