CARPENTER

"Mines do not distinguish between civilians and military personnel. Landmines cause many injuries leading to physical disabilities, depression and shock. People injured by landmines may lose motivation and their abilities or activities." These are the serious consequences of anti-personnel mines, but if on the one hand there are those who plant them in the ground, on the other there are the people who know how to take care of each other. The Kurdish carpenter Hussein Mahmood is a source of inspiration as he laboriously makes his way through the forests of a remote mountainous region of Iran while, observed by the creatures of the forest, he searches for the best wood with which to make prostheses for the victims of these indiscriminate weapons with their lacerating effects on men.
