RIVER

Sonthar Gyal / China / 2015 / 94 min / Colour

In the eyes of little Yangchan, the world around her appears strange.  Inexplicably, her father refuses to visit her reclusive father, who lives in a cavern and is considered a saint by the people of the region. Out of the blue, her mother pushes her way, because a new baby is on the way. While the children and village people keep repeating that her father is a bad person, Yangchan fights to understand what surrounds her and to again find the affection she needs. The mystic landscape of the white and brown Tibetan mountains forms the backdrop for this story.
