BRING THE SUN HOME
Amlan Datta, Paolo Bernardi, Redazione TGR Montagne, Chiara Andrich, Giovanni Pellegrini / Italy / 2013 / 67 min / Colour
The willpower of women drives development in the most remote areas of the planet. As part of a project organized by Barefoot College, an Indian NGO, forty women are selected from around the world and hosted in India. Here, they attend a course to learn how to install small solar power kits, which they bring back to their communities with great pride. In this way, even in the most distant places, the first light bulb and, with it, new hope is turned on. This film documents the various learning phases and the women’s return to their villages in El Salvador and Peru, where they become “light bearers.”
