The small salary of a physical education teacher, along with his wife’s meagre pay, is not enough to make the payments on a house in a village in the mountains of Kyrgyzstan. And so, ingenuity and willpower drive the teacher into the freezing waters of the Naryn River, in search of a sprinkling of gold to yield a few more som. Through the protagonist’s eyes, the film paints a portrait of a community high in the mountains.
Amanbek Azhymat
Born in 1990 in Kyrgyzstan, he studies film with the director Tamir Birnazarov. Fizruk, altyn zhana darya is his debut film, and will have its European premiere at the Film Festival della Lessinia.
