The Canadian beaver is causing irreparable damage to the ecosystem of Chilean Patagonia, where man introduced it some seventy years ago. The dams built by these animals, not harmful in their place of origin, have profoundly changed the Tierra del Fuego, its vegetation, and its water resources. By adapting rivers and forests to their presence and the needs of their species, the "harmful" beavers become a kind of metaphor for the human species and its relationship with nature
Nicolás Molina
He was born in 1985 and earned a degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in 2009. He made the short films El Jabalí and El Atleta. With Los castores, his first feature in collaboration with Antonio Luco (1986), he participated in the Sheffield Doc/Fest, the Festival Intenacional de Cine de Valdivia and Docs Barcelona, among other festivals.
Antonio Luco
Antonio Luco (1986) earned a degree from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in 2009.He has worked as a film editor and contributed to the project Mafi.tv, devoted to collecting and cataloguing documentaries about Chile. With Los castores, his first feature, in collaboration with Nicolás Molina, he participated in the Sheffield Doc/Fest, the Festival Intenacional de Cine de Valdivia and Docs Barcelona, among other festivals.
