ALEXANDRE, FILS DE BERGER
ALEXANDRE, SON OF SHEPHERD
Anne Lapied, Erik Lapied / France / 2014 / 69 min / Colour
Alexandre lives in a small mountain village and since he was very young, has spent his summer in the highlands with his father, grazing their sheep. He is now twelve. Fernand, his father, has passed down all of his knowledge of the shepherd’s life. With his dog, Trace, Alexandre shares his life in the mountains with his flock, marmots and chamois, lynches and wolves. He learns to recognize plants, care for a lame sheep, and go down to the village to shop and get water. His most intense relationship is with his father. Up there, in the magnificent landscape of the French Alps, between the two there is a great complicity. But Alexandre has a dream: to one day lead the herd by himself.
