ZUM BEISPIEL SUBERG
FOR EXAMPLE SUBERG
Svizzera / 2013 / 90 min / Colour
Although he has lived in Suberg since birth, Simon Baumann knows very few of the 612 inhabitants of this little Swiss mountain village. It was not so for his grandfather, who was well known and esteemed by all of his fellow villagers. In recent decades, along with gates and hedges around the houses, disinterest and individualism have grown, making communication increasingly difficult, even amongst neighbours. Simon attempts to establish a rapport with the people of his village in order to study the social changes in recent generations. He visits their homes, joins the choir, and looks for friendship, encountering both disappointment and hope.
