ERTEFA-E-OMID
HIGH HOPES
Iran / 2011 / 26 min / Colour
Italian premiere
Mohammed lives with his daughter Azar in a small village in the mountains of Oraman, in Iranian Kurdistan. In this land, where the Sirvan River runs, the vegetation is lush and there are numerous springs and waterfalls. Man’s mark is evident in the rural wood and stone houses built one on top of the other. Here Mohammed lives with the memory of his wife who died some years earlier. His relationship to the land and the mountains, which he has walked from one end to the other, is marked by his daily labours, including the cultivation of fruit trees, his serene interactions with his daughter, and by his tenacious spirit of hope.
