Winter light

In Norway, the mountains soar from the sea, delimit the spaces of the fjords, and characterize the profile of the islands. On the islands of Lofoten, above the Arctic Circle, one lives between the mountains and the sea. The dialogue between them not only creates an extraordinary landscape, but also influences the life of both men and animals. After weeks of faint autumn light, the sun sets behind the horizon and remains hidden for the entire winter. Here the days resemble long nights, with weak light that awakens the mountains and sea each morning and lends a delicate beauty to the landscape that is made of shadows and unusual colours. Few words, ample horizons, and the sounds of nature draw a poetic portrait of these peaks that rise from the sea.
