Ona koja prića sa životinjama
The woman who talks to the animals
Croazia / 2011 / 28 min / Colour
Italian premiere
Hela has always dreamed of having an animal farm. Three years ago she left her job as a nurse and the comforts of the city to begin a new life on land she had inherited from her grandmother, in the mountainous inlands of Croatia. Hela now lives happily on her farm with fifty goats, two cows, two horses, and a fat pig. Hela knows each of them by name. On her farm, there is no punishment or coercion. Hela dialogues freely with her animals, listens to them, and conveys her wishes without the use of force. She refers to this particular method as “emotional farming”. When the animals are old or ill, Hela sends them to a dignified retirement. The separation is not easy, but it is part of the natural cycle of life.
