CONTADINI DI CONFINE. GRENZBAUERN
BORDER FARMERS
Michele Trentini / Italy / 2024 / 72 min / Colour
In some villages of Val di Non and Val di Fiemme, near the border between the provinces of Trento and Bolzano, the landscape has characteristics that differentiate it from those of intensive monoculture or abandonment, present in other mountain areas. This is due to the work of farmers and breeders of both provinces, who give life to an experience of collaboration that enhances the landscape, a source of pride for the communities to which they belong and whose socio-cultural meanings go beyond regional borders. Through interviews with inhabitants and workers immersed in nature or together with their animals, Michele Trentini presents a documentary made up of stories of daily tasks and genuine reflections on the meaning of appreciating the borders that unite rather than divide.
