CATANIA
Italy / 1912 / 4 min / Colour
Restored by Cineteca di Bologna at L’Immagine Ritrovata laboratory from a tinted positive print preserved at BFI National Archive and belonging to the Joye collection
Although titled Catania, the film shows the coastal profiles of Isola Bella and the majestic ruins of Taormina, up to the fires and fumes of enraged Etna, with delightful tricks of early twentieth-century cinematography, before a rock wall suddenly collapses, for real.
