The spectacular Sagittarius gorges, an imposing canyon resulting from the millennial erosion by the Sagittarius river, was a renowned destination for the Grand Tour in the nineteenth century. Passionate about Italy, the travellers Richard Craven (1779 - 1851) and Edward Lear (1812 - 1888) described these natural places in their diaries as "fearful and beautiful", emblematic of the Romantic sublime. A group of tourists visit these wonders of Nature, and then stops at the village of Scanno, where we can witness a wedding procession in traditional clothes.
