MOTORRODILLO
Alba Jaramillo / Colombia, France / 2022 / 30 min / Colour
In the rural north of Colombia, railway service has long been suspended and this has made it very difficult to move from one village to another. Thus, the descendants of the railwaymen decided to create an informal transport network using the disused tracks. Dolly and her colleagues travel with motorrodillos, ingenious substitutes for trains pulled by motorcycles. Every day they carry goods and dozens of travellers along rough roads, repairing potholes on their own. Despite small internal disagreements, while having to fight against the rigidity of the local authorities who intend to impose the regularization of the activities, the system seems to hold its own. Motorrodillo is an immersive journey into the tropical forest that allows us to observe an incredibly unusual, self-organized transport system.
