First the mayor of the town and then all the inhabitants aged eighteen and up: every year for more than seventy years the town's residents have played the biggest game of hide and seek in the world. We are in Serravalle Langhe, in the province of Cuneo. On these mountains, during the Resistance, many partisans chose to go into hiding, including Beppe Fenoglio, whose 100th birth anniversary is remembered in 2022. The winner of the previous edition, which holds the precious Nocciola d’Oro, has the task of finding all the players one by one, up to the last one who will inherit the prize and who will have the same task the following year. There are those who look for a new, unfindable hiding place every year, and there are others who, to honour the memory of a partisan, always choose the same place. The short documentary is built on the collective self-irony of a town which, through play, makes a gesture of historical memory and passes on to the future the memory of men and women who fought a war that was not a game at all.

  Paolo Bonfadini

  Director, screenwriter and musician, he graduated in history from the University of Milan and earned a diploma in film and television direction from the Civica Scuola di Cinema L. Visconti. He has directed several short films including Black Water (2019), presented out of competition at the Milano Film Festival, and Ultraveloci (2022). He is co-founder of the Asterisco * collective.

  Irene Cotroneo

  After earning a degree in production from the Civica Scuola di Cinema L. Visconti in Milan, she began working as an assistant director for advertising spots and television products, She is the co-founder of the collective Asterisco*.

  Davide Morando

  An Italian director and editor, he worked as a freelance producer for various major television channels. After studying at the London Film Academy, he collaborated on the making of some short films, including  Fulmini e Saette (2019). He is co-founder of the collective Asterisco*.
