JUUNT PASTAZA ENTSARI
WATERS OF PASTAZA
Inês T. Alves / Portugal / 2022 / 62 min / Colour
Italian premiere
A boy and a girl move in the depths of the rainforest with agility and naturalness. Along the Pastaza River, on the border between Ecuador and Peru, they spend their days picking bananas, cutting reeds with machete, and climbing tree trunks. They live in intimacy with animals and plants, barefoot or wearing rubber boots. Inês T. Alves does not describe a life in a totally wild world, but she tells both of when the children play among the green vegetation and when, back in the village, they gather in front of the smartphone to watch a video: to say that a life in harmony with the environment can coexist with technology, as long as it does not become omnipresent and obsessive, and when one has learned from a very young age to know and live with Nature.
