HOMME SAABUB PARADIIS

FOR TOMORROW PARADISE ARRIVES

Anna Hints / Estonia / 2021 / 28 min / Colour

Italian premiere

At night, when the streets are deserted, a group of Estonian mothers set out, by car and bicycle, to make nightly expeditions and recover impressive quantities of edible and healthy food from the bins of the supermarkets. They must be vigilant because, incredibly, their gesture could be considered illegal, even though that food, which would otherwise be thrown away, is then distributed on the street in public pantries and used to prepare delicacies for their children. In a society that talks a lot about energy saving and preservation of the environment, and that daily wastes what is most precious for life on earth--food and water-- these children learn from gestures and not from words to build a different future. Their smiling and determined faces as they go to clean the waste from the banks of the river and then, back home, eat with relish the dishes prepared by their mothers with recycled food, are an image of authentic hope.
