At the beginning, the voice of Mario Rigoni Stern describes, with unmistakable tenderness, the thrill that every day, at dawn, runs through men, animals and plants when the sun appears on the edge of the mountains, while at the end of an ideal day together with the writer, the telescope of the Astrophysical and Astronomical Observatory of Asiago seems to look ideally at that asteroid which, at the time of its discovery in 1996, was baptised with the name 12811 Rigonistern. One hundred years after his birth, the documentary by Tommaso Brugin and Federico Massa collects a rich archive material with photographs and videos together with interviews with writers and artists who have known and who tell stories of the sergeant of the Alpine troops and the keeper of the Plateau, among them Mario Isnenghi, Giuseppe Mendicino and Bepi De Marzi.

  Federico Massa

  Both a producer and director, in collaboration with Gian Piero Brunetta (professor of film history and criticism at the University of Padua) he has made documentaries about various authors and directors, among them Mario Rigoni Stern, Marco Paolini and Ermanno Olmi. After a master's degree in audiovisual media at Cinecittà, he returned to Padua where he founded the production company AViLab.

  Tommaso Brugin

  After studying arts, music and performing arts at the University of Padua and cinema at the Sorbonne Nouvelle, he has been working as a producer and director for over ten years, making documentaries and short films and participating in the major European audiovisual markets. He also makes commercials and promotional short films.
