La Conquista de las Ruinas
The Conquest of the Ruins
Eduardo Gómez / Argentina, Bolivia / 2020 / 88 min / Colour
Palaeontologists. Miners. Construction sites and private neighbourhoods. The earth unites and separates them, but each has a different opinion of what this world is and how it should be inhabited. Destroy to create. Stories closely linked to each other, which revolve around the exploitation of the earth to build new cities and favour their chaotic, inexhaustible advance. Nothing remains the same, everything is transformed, while archaeologists try to preserve the memory and the remains of the past. The documentary shows the dark side behind urban sprawl, inviting us to follow different paths in the labyrinth of the construction industry. A mosaic of composite realities, both disturbing and exciting, which aims to make us reflect on the complexity of spaces and limits, both produced by the continuous expansion of cities.
