Siluetas de Agua
Silhouettes of Water
Violeta Paus / Chile / 2020 / 30 min / Colour
The administration of water resources in Chile is almost exclusively private and this condition represents a unique case all over the world. Through the eyes of three women, who appear together on the film through a split screen, we travel through the lives and struggles of the protagonists, who tell us about the effects on the environment of a thoughtless administration of natural resources, linked to industry and short-sighted politics. From the pollution of groundwater due to the presence of landfills to the scarcity of water in many rural areas and the poisoning of fields, Violeta Paus's experimental documentary develops on three fronts that are contemporary and mutually supportive, aware of the absolute necessity of constant militancy, also through art and film.
