Entre perro y lobo
BETWEEN DOG AND WOLF
Irene Gutiérrez / Bangladesh, Colombia, Cuba / 2020 / 75 min / Colour
Italian premiere
Three men advance into the Cuban jungle, carrying with them the weapons of a life as fighters: rifles, machetes, and knives belonging to a long war that has now passed. They are three guerrillas who left for Angola to defend a fragile revolution that involved the struggles of many African countries, in a not too distant time. Yet, beyond the relics of an ever-present past evoked by their stories, their bodies are the only true protagonist of a documentary that shows us the memory through a journey towards themselves, among the foliage of a forest that becomes a refuge for the memories. It is their skin, now wet, now soaked in earth, which adheres to Irene Gutiérrez's camera, showing us a journey within themselves, through their own history, far from the present yet alive and ready to wrap themselves up again in the embrace of struggle.
