Pari is a young widow and in order to survive she works at home as a seamstress. She must find the means to buy new glasses, otherwise she will not be able to support herself and her children, but no one seems to want to help her. In Kabul, Afghanistan, in addition to the lack of economic support and government subsidies, a widow must also face the many prejudices that accompany her on a daily basis, distressed by the fear that her very existence may represent a bad omen for her neighbours. Starting from the experience of her own family, Salar Pashtoonyar recounts Pari's drama through the contemplation of a silent yet never resigned pain that persists in pursuing its own quest beyond the isolation in which the protagonist has been imprisoned.
