Anoush

Italian premiere
Still a child, Anoush is sent by her family over the mountains to the home of a distant relative. She must return with a wedding dress for her brother's upcoming wedding. Leyla, a young teacher traveling to a remote village, discovers that the school to which she has been assigned has long since been abandoned. They will meet in an empty classroom: Anoush can't write, Leyla is alone. Both will spend the night in the house where the little girl waits patiently to carry out her task. With his third film as director, Deniz Telek confirms his attention to the staging of family portraits - following suggestions of the new Turkish cinema - conducted through a balanced tension of gazes and silences, often directing non-professional actors. The wedding dress, first hidden and then denied, is the object of a dispute that turns to drama, beyond the fog that surrounds the plateau and separates Anoush from her loved ones.
