PREMIER AMOUR
FIRST LOVE
Jules Carrin / Switzerland / 2017 / 20 min / Colour
A girl lives alone with her father, a livestock breeder in a remote region of France where the only pastime is shouting at trains that pass without stopping. Because of his debts, the man is about to lose the house and the only thing that the daughter can hold on is the love of Lamiche, the son of a rival wealthy family. The two young people perceive, instinctively, that the feeling that binds them is the only possibility for escaping the oppressive mountain horizon that surrounds them. Their meetings are hasty, and in secret, shadowed by the misunderstanding and hostility of their families, until the moment when a painful revelation will precipitate the events towards an outbreak of violence. Will their feeling be stronger than the grudge and carve out a future in this immobile time? With a sincere and participatory viewpoint, the young director updates the ever-green story of Romeo and Juliet in our times of economic uncertainty.
