Salvatore is 86. Every morning at dawn he goes out on the back of his faithful mule toward a small patch of land where he grazes his remaining twenty sheep. His life goes by monotonously, with days that repeat and blend together, the same for eighty years. But it was not always like this. Salvatore once owned vaster lands and many animals, and dreamed of a powerful future: until bad luck struck him, taking away his only son. Amongst the mountains of Sicily, his mind wanders in suspended time, in which childhood memories, broken dreams and the ghosts of lost loved ones mix, leaving the old shepherd a prisoner of regret. The young director captures fragments of this broken monologue, a mixture of curses and poetic phrases, giving us a moving portrait of stubborn resignation.

  Giovanni Gaetani Liseo

  Born 1991 in Milan, he has been passionate about film since childhood and began to describe the world around him with the help of a video camera. He made videoclips and documentaries, and then joined the social movie project Italy in a Day, directed by the Academy Award winner Gabriele Salvatores and produced by Rai Cinema. He attended the Documentary Course of the Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia.
