STORIE DI TERRE E D'ACQUA: ADIGE ETSCH

STORIES OF LANDS AND WATER: ADIGE ETSCH

Vittorio Curzel / Italy / 2018 / 76 min / Colour

A narrative voice follows the course of the Adige, from its mouth to its source, guiding the camera's objective along a long path of banks, embankments and cities that have marked its history, deviating its route, navigating it and admiring the flow of its waters. From the Park of the Delta of the Po to the Resia Pass, the Adige flows for more than four hundred kilometres, drawing a constantly changing landscape. The lives and cultures that have crossed its basin are described through the historical processes that still mark its bed, as the impressive works of canalisation of the Serenissima, the only possible embankment to save the Venice lagoon from mutation in emerged land. The river runs through identities, languages and cultures, on the notes of musicians linked to ancient local traditions, in a journey that connects distant landscapes in a complex natural symphony.
