LA PERSISTENTE
Camille Lugan / France / 2018 / 22 min / Colour
Ivan loves his motorbike, La Persistente. It is a mysterious relationship that binds the young man to his mechanical ride; it is almost carnal, and transcends the steel to penetrate the innards of the motor. When the rider is brutally unsaddled by a local rival and his bike is stolen, a relentless vendetta takes place in a ski resort in the French Pyrenees: nothing can stop Ivan and his bike that want to rejoin on the asphalt surrounded by snowy peaks. The bike arouses a lascivious passion in every man who grazes its chromed metal with his fingers, tinging with blood and motor oil a hybrid work, with veins of horror. The intimate and sensual moments that involve the two protagonists are the living nucleus of a narration that the director builds with slow shots and close-ups of the motor and of the protagonist's face.
