LA CIUDAD PERDIDA
THE LOST CITY
Francisco Hervé / Chile / 2016 / 78 min / Colour
Italian premiere
In Aysén, along the Andean Cordillera in Chilean Patagonia, for centuries an ancient legend has been passed down that says adventurers, galley-slaves and fugitives built a Golden City. The city, surrounded by a veil of mystery and magic, moves around to evade discovery, but the adventurer who succeeds in going there will be granted immortality, at the expense of his own memory. The journey in search of the lost City of the Caesars becomes a pretext to discover seemingly magical landscapes, where the vertiginous peaks of the Andes drop rapidly to the sea, offering sublime and marvellous views, and where the few, isolated villages are inhabited by equally unique characters, divided between the mirage of an ideal city, where harmony and well-being reign, and the true reality, in which their lands fall into the hands of voracious foreign investors.
