THE REVENANT
Alejandro González Iñárritu / United States / 2015 / 156 min / Colour
North Dakota, 1823. The trapper Hugh Glass is hired as a guide for a group of trappers during an expedition to unexplored forests. With him he brings his son Hawk, his only surviving family member after the death of his wife, a Pawnee. During the expedition, Glass is attached by a Grizzly bear that he succeeds in killing after a ferocious one-on-one struggle. He remains gravely injured, however, and at death's door watches, powerless, the assassination of Hawk at the hands of the trapper Fitzgerald. Glass swears revenge over his son's body, and uses every ounce of energy to obtain it, pushing himself beyond the limits of human power in an epic, exhausting challenge for survival in the wiles of nature. Leonardo Di Caprio's performance earned him the Oscar for Best Actor in 2016.
