CHRONICLE OF WIND AND STILLNESS
Nuno Escudeiro / Italy / 2016 / 30 min / Colour
Italian premiere
The reality of the Alto Adige mountains is not just the postcard of lush meadows and snow-covered slopes. The daily life of this land is now faced with the crowds of migrants who, after disembarking in dire condition on the southern coasts of Italy, make their way with difficulty up the peninsula to gather in Bolzano or at the Brennero Pass. This arduous journey toward the European myth is marked by checkpoints, blocks, long waits, fear, and all kinds of difficulties. This documentary investigates this phenomenon and shows the wide eyes, overwhelmed faces, and hesitant expressions of the migrants, both young and old, who huddle along the train tracks or near the benches. And, all around, the mountains look down, silent and oblivious.
